I am hoping to come up to Nova Scotia in late October. I will be visiting Halifax, Truro, Upper Musquodoboit, Dean, and Ship Harbour. When I am in Ship Harbour, I want to find the St. Stephen's Anglican Church and cemetery. I am researching DEAN and EISAN in that area. Have you any helpful suggestions for me?
I am really anxious to vist that area.

Noreen

I can't wait to leave my computer and get to NS!
My husband/partner David and I are happy to announce we are returning to Nova Scotia for another documented On-line driving tour.
We are attempting to research and plan much of our itinerary using the WWW in one form or another.
YOUR suggestions count!
Do you have a special place, restaurant, hike or "must see" you wish to share? Would you like to meet us? Do you have a favorite local Web site that will assist in our planning? Last year's trip is still published at:
http://newww.com/trip
Take a look and see what we did last year for a feel of what we like to do...for the moment our plans are just forming
Our tastes have not changed too much. We still enjoy fine dining, lonesome out-of the way places, twisting & winding roads, meeting friendly people, quiet beaches, hiking wood-paths and shorelines, museums, music, birdwatching, the "unusual" and a comfy bed. We found all of these in N.S. and are returning for more. We are not big shoppers, prefer secondary roads to highways, country inns and guest homes to motels. We often avoid the tourist spots/activities and look for the real flavor of an area including finnan haddie.

Personally, I would like to stay longer than a night in some locations. Here's my wish list: Do more more hiking, cycling and socializing. I'd love to go dancing or find some good jazz in Halifax. Spend an entire day picnicing/viewing the tides at Cape Split. Explore Cape Blomidon. Try sea kayaking. Listen to Loons/find a dark sky for stargazing. Eat loads of fresh fish(and Tangier smoked salmon)and pastry. And Visit: A good flea market/baazar/community rummage sale. More Gardens like Annapolis R & Halifax. Old cemetaries and quiet chapels. Landscape(ocal) art galleries. ....and here are our definite destinations.

We will be returning to Halifax-a weekend visit. Eat at La Perla in Dartmouth again. Visit Art museum and galleries. Stay at the Sea-Wind Landing (near Canso) for a barren-hike and a day with the seals, eagles and nice people.Stop for Tangier Salmon on the drive up to cape Breton. Stay at the Normaway Inn, hike to Egypt Falls. Spend more time along the Cabot Trail. Return to the Elsie in lake Bras d'Or for a sail and a night aboard.

We are looking for suggestions to any and all regions (we probably won't make it to P.E.I., alas) We missed P.E.I., Sydney/Louisbourg, Mabou, Northumberland and Minas Basin last year so we have no favorite re-destinations among them.

Care to help? We'd be most appreciative.
We'll be seeing you soon!
Rosanne & David

Love the site. There is so much to see and very different than so many sites. I have been studying Nova Scotia, because I found out my roots started in North America there in 1795. Look forward to coming up there next year. Those lobsters and clams sound good! Site sure makes a person feel welcome.

I am a graduate of ESDH, SMU, and ITI. I am currently doing computer programming and software testing for Revelation Software in Boston. My wonderful parents (Reginald, and Frances) own Busy Bee DayCare located in Lake Echo, Porters Lake, Lawerencetown, and Dartmouth. I have three sisters (Kelly, Shelia, and Bernadette) and one brother (Kevin). I miss home tremendously, and plan to return when finances and employment allow it. When in Halifax I can be found at the Lower Deck enjoying a Keith's!

Hello Elizabeth,
I'm reading Highway 7 from the Dorval Public Library. I hope your summer is going well. We are having a lovely vacation in this extremely well-serviced area of the country- shows, music, shopping, recreational services for children. Amazing.
See you soon.

I like your site. Am searching for any site in Nova Scotia, as I am researching the family name of DEAN. They settled in Upper Musquodoboit area, Dean Settlement (now Dean). They also settled in the Ship Harbour and Jeddore area. Haven't found a site that would cover these areas. Also, looking for Eisan that settled Jeddore. Look forward to coming up there to visit your area. Sounds lovely. I am Canadian, but lived in US all but 4 yrs. But, I kept my Canadian citizenship. Noreen
