Hello, Elizabeth and Jurgen. This is Tara Lee Wittchen from the Metropolitan Immigrant Settlement Association (MISA) in Halifax. I enjoyed researching on your web pages, they are quite informative and helpful. I actually found a telephone number for a business I am trying to write a profile on (the Sattler's). I would like to arrange a time for me to have an interview with you, either in person or perhaps on the telephone if you are not going to be in Halifax soon. Please telephone me on Wednesday, July 2 or after that date to make arrangements. I wish to have the interview done before the 12th of July, if it is possible. Hope to talk to you soon! Our phone number is 423 3607. Bye! :)

Great site! Thanks SEF for pointing it out. I've lived in Halifax all my life, except for 8 months last year which I spent in Salem New Hampshire. Nice place but not like home! Glad to be back in HFX with my puppy Katie, she is a 9 month old Jack Russell Terrier that is extreemly energetic.

I left Nova Scotia on my ninth birthday and I had to celebrate my birthday on the train. My family and I have been down in recent years to visit my parents who moved back three years ago and now live on the eastern shore.
It's more beautiful than I had remembered. My parents will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in August of 98 and I hope to have all of the family together for this special occasion.

What a pleasant surprise this was! I was surfing the Net looking for links to add to my Home Page when I found this site.
I am very impressed with the amount of work that has gone into preparing this site.
I read all of the comments in the Guest Book and recognized several former students. I even sent an email to Gary Wournell whom I taught over 30 years ago. He's living in Alberta.
This was a great idea and I want to commend all of you who contributed in any way.

P. S. Don't make it sound too good living here on the Eastern Shore.....we love the rural atmosphere and our quaint way of life. Ha! Ha!

I was reading your March newsletter, when I came across the article about the ship The "Cashier". My grandfather, Arthur S Day , was a crew member aboard that vessel. and I shall speak with my father, as he would remember more details about the ship then I can recall from my grandfather's stories.

I am a member of the first generation of my family not to have lived in Nova Scotia since 1750. My father emigrated to the U.S.A. in 1929 on the Friday before the stock market crash. I was born before he became an American citizen and understand I may have had rights to Canadian citizenship if I made such a declaration before age 24. Unfortunately, I did not know of this until after age 24. Nevertheless, when I visit family in Nova Scotia I feel that I am going home. I have not been "home" in two years but I am looking to return soon.

65,000 colours is a too slender pallette to convey the richness of your art and photography. Jessie, this is very interesting and more incandescent than your rainbow. More comments in the future, but I suggest examining the fundamental question, why is the Eastern Shore so so-called "undeveloped" (though not in spirit)? Why do I call it the "forgotten shore"?
