Somebody once said that strangers are friends we have yet to meet.

Considering that every one of us is a stranger in most places in the world, just think how many new friends are out there, waiting to meet us!!

Here's the place to find old friends, long lost relatives and neighbours - or let them find you. A meeting place for Nova Scotians everywhere. For those who moved away and those who didn't, and for all our new CFA's from far flung ports!

Did you know you can enter a person's name in our Highway 7 Search Tool, and find their Guestbook entries? Try it and see who turns up!

Note: If you wish to send an email to anyone on this page, replace the "(at)" in the address with the usual "@" character. We've added this feature to make it a little more difficult for spammers to collect your addresses.

As hard as we tried, we have not been able to prevent abuse of the Guestbooks by spammers, so we've had to deactivate the input facility - at least for now. :-(

As a safe and convenient alternative, why not sign up on our new Highway7 Community Forum.

The Forums are an ideal place to actually talk, find old friends or make new ones, ask questions, make announcements and share ideas. It's free and if you wish, totally anonymous!

Nice to find this site when I am so far from home. I really miss the down home news and I am always searching the net for some hint of it. Great to find highway 7. I am a native of Dorts Cove in Guysborough County and I am beginning to believe it when my grandmother says it is 'God's Country".

Hi all, came across this when looking into where I could buy dulse. They use to carry it at the fish stores near Boston Harbor, but most have been torn down due to the BIG DIG. Some of our grocery stores use to carry it too $1.49USD for 4oz. So I tend to buy it when I am in NS or NB, which is quite often. Made in Canada born in USA. Can't tell you how many times I've gone back and forth across the border, but some years it's been up to 5 times and I'm getting old as dirt. Family joke is that I give tours of Halifax, to other family members who don't live there. Last year I went into a store and asked for dulse, they guy didn't even know what I was talking about, so I told him what it was, one of my cousins walked up behind me and said "bad enough that you give tours of Halifax, but now you are educating people about a local product, that's sad". We had a good laugh over it though. I'm also researching my Dad's family Calnen, his father was born in PEI but settled in Halifax. Trying to get all the generations together, so that history is not lost to next generation.

In the box for author insert: McFadden-Croft Edith: that's me. I write much about growing up in Pugwash. If YOU would like to be included in future publications about that beautiful village, contact me. For your reading pleasure, may I direct you to: www.OurMillennium.ca Go into Nova Scotia, then Gift Registry. Find "Four Books About Pugwash." Click on it. Enjoy the brief short-story.

Comments:
Is there anybody out there who remembers any of the Muise family from Chezzetcook? Although we didn't live on the "West Side" as we called it then (we were in the Head of Chezzetcook) we were the first of our Acadian Muise family to live outside of Yarmouth and Annapolis Valley area in 300 years. Starting from the oldest we were Linda, Jack, Josephine, Michael, Veronica, Patrick. We went to Head of Chezzetcook school, Lakeview Consolidated, Graham Creighton and finished at Eastern Shore high school after it was built. I've been back in Chezzetcook and Musquodoboit Harbour several times with my husband most recently 2 years ago. Everybody that I would have known 30 years ago would have drastically aged now as I have but I have not come into contact with anyone I know. Have all of our schoolmates moved as we all have? Living in Maple Ridge, B.C. now but my heart is in Nova Scotia. I'll be back. Hopefully this message will come out correctly typed. Josephine (Muise) Brygider
