The Halifax Word on the Street Festival will move to an inside location on the Halifax Waterfront this year. According to the book and magazine fair's Halifax organizers, they've spent 'too many years in the rain' and the new space at Pier 20 will keep the exhibitors, and their displays warm and dry.

Halifax joins the cities of Vancouver, Calgary, and Toronto for this annual festival of the book trade. Word on the Street Ottawa will not be represented as in previous years.

Word on the Street, to be held on September 30th (Sept.23 in Calgary) this year, receives thousands of visitors to the free exhibits and presentations which focus on literacy, writers and writing, Atlantic and Canadian books, magazines and publishers. The event will feature a children's area, a literacy lane and a 'village' of writers' groups and small press publishers.

Outside the Pier 20 building, another 10,000 square feet will be available for event venues, food tents and buskers, just to keep the festive outdoor atmosphere intact.
