A “BUSINESS GET-TOGETHER
October 17, 2004

Would it be accurate to say that the Eastern Shore lacks “profile”? Would it be fair to say that the Eastern Shore is not first and foremost in the minds of Government and Media when the various regions of Nova Scotia are considered? Most local residents would agree with these two observations and fortunately a group of local businesses are coming together to address the situation…

On Sunday, October 17th at 2:00pm there will be a “Get-Together” of Eastern Shore businesses in Musquodoboit Harbour. (Mark the Date in your Calendar Books right now!!). It will be a terrific opportunity for business operators to come together in one location – hopefully 100 businesses or more, hence the name. We can have a straightforward discussion. Rather than wait for any level of government to assist us, or the media to discover us; it is timely that we simply help ourselves! How do we begin to properly promote the Eastern Shore as a distinct residence and marketplace so close to the heart of HRM? How do we convince the powers at be that with proper highway enhancement and reasonable infrastructure, this Community can thrive as it should?

This "Get-Together” will be the starting point for Events to come. We can have a good discussion of the upside of working together for the greater good. If we raise the profile of the Eastern Shore, it means more visitors from HRM and elsewhere. More visitors generate more business which generates more Employment and greater prosperity. Is it actually possible to create a win, win, win scenario? We think so! We need to free ourselves form the red tape and bureaucracy and just have a good positive discussion. Let’s determine those broad issues upon which we agree and then peak with a common voice…

We invite all businesses to join us on Sunday, October 17th @ 2:00pm at the St. Phillip Neri Catholic Church Hall (on Highway #7) in Musquodoboit Harbour.
